With this training, he and his wife, Sue Minkoff, co-founded LifeWorks Wellness Center in 1997, one of the largest alternative medical clinics in the U.S.This wellness center combines more cutting-edge alternative therapies and modalities under the same roof than almost any other alternative clinic in the country.

Dr. Minkoff is passionate about fitness and is a 38-time Ironman finisher, including eight appearances at the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. He also writes two newsletters each week, The Optimum Health Report and the BodyHealth Fitness Newsletter.

Dr Mark Sircus

Dr. Mark Sircus, one of the most prolific writers in medicine, holds the honorary title of doctor of Oriental medicine and was one of the first nationally certified acupuncturists in the United States. He was trained in acupuncture and oriental medicine at the Institute of Traditional Medicine in Santa Fe, N.M., and in the School of Traditional Medicine of New England in Boston. He served at the Central Public Hospital of Pochutla, in Mexico.

For many years he has been researching into the human condition and into the causes of disease. His primary focus in recent years has been the study of environmental toxicity and iatrogenic diseases. He has written extensively on the poisons in the environment, in our foods, medicines and dental practices. Dr. Sircus is the director of the International Medical Veritas Association (IMVA), which is advocating radical changes in orthodox medicine.

His research and writings bring forth information that others wish to be hidden and he is without doubt “a flame of wonderful insight” and many are thankful for his wisdom and courage. Some people think him a genius in his own right and “his methods of attacking chronic disease beautiful and to the point.”

His work “Natural Allopathic Medicine” represents a revolution in medical thinking laying the groundwork for a future of medicine free from the poisonous rein of pharmaceutical companies. He envisions a future for medicine that is rational, effective and safe. Dr. Sircus is also the author of the popular magnesium book “Transdermal Magnesium Therapy“.

When one reads one of his numerous medical books one can see his discipline and regard for medical science. Though his works are heavily referenced to researchers and clinicians from around the globe the layperson finds little difficulty in understanding his presentation of medical topics.

Dr. Sircus has distilled many of the divergent medical systems and paradigms to an essence that provides a roadmap toward a unified medicine that can be practiced by allopath and non allopath alike. He sees the restoration of the Hippocratic spirit in medicine as vital for he feels that without heart, without love medicine will never serve humanity as it desperately needs to be served.

Curtis Moran

A lifetime commitment to health, fitness, and sensible nutrition – that’s what Curtis Moran is about.  He has been a consumer advocate in the natural foods and preventive medical fields from the tumultuous college days of the 1960s to the present — unafraid to separate the silliness from the science in nutrition claims.  Today his primary interests are optimizing bio-identical hormone balance, longevity, and brain function.

Among his notable accomplishments are the following:

  • Developed a loyal following of customers over the years in my own retail stores, plus those who patronized the Tahoma Clinic Dispensary and later at Pilgrim’s Market, where I also assisted the founder of that store in creating Pilgrim’s Wellness Center.
  • Responsible for naming and coordinating the market development of GlucoBalance, a blood sugar control supplement by Drs. Jonathan Wright, MD and Alan Gaby, MD. Wrote the marketing copy and naming MindMattersRx, a brain-cell regeneration formula by Zortho, a Seattle-based, professional products company.
  • Retail sales consultant at Pilgrim’s Market, in Coeur d’Alene, ID, an independent natural foods market frequently and favorably compared to Whole Foods. It includes a massive nutrition department.
  • As general manager for Probiologic, a Northwest distributor for Biotics Laboratories, I oversaw all aspects of its operation as well as promoting its products to professionals at trade shows throughout the US.
  • Supervised a 12-store chain of nutrition centers in Spokane and Seattle areas.
  • Served four years on the Board of Bastyr University—two years as Chairman—bringing in funding and assisting in the successful accreditation of the Seattle-based school of naturopathic medicine and nutrition.

Dr. Philip Maffetone is an internationally recognized researcher, educator, clinician, and author in the fields of complementary and sports medicine, diet, nutrition, stress management and biofeedback. He is a recipient of the prestigious Statuette award by the International Academy for Child Brain Development, was named “Coach of the Year” by Triathlete Magazine and honored by Inside Triathlon magazine as one of the top twenty most influential people in endurance sports worldwide. Dr. Maffetone has written over 15 books and textbooks on sports, fitness and health, including “The Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing.” He can be reached through his website:

Dr. Hallowitz is a naturopathic doctor (ND), classically-trained Chinese medicine practitioner and licensed acupuncturist (EAMP, LAc) providing alternative medicine options to the Inland Northwest community. He concentrates his treatments on whole-patient wellness, evidence-based clinical naturopathic medicine and Chinese medicine theory and therapies that have been practiced over the past millennia. Dr. Toby tailors to each individual patient’s unique condition rather than focusing on the disease. Using natural treatment modalities such as acupuncture, dietary modification, nutritional supplements, botanical medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, Chinese herbology, nature cure and hydrotherapy, he emphasizes prevention and restoration of balance to the body, mind and spirit.

The ever-energetic and enthusiastic man behind the uber-popular “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog, “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” podcast, “Ask The Low-Carb Experts” podcast, “Low-Carb Conversations With Jimmy Moore & Friends” podcast…I think you get the idea! If you’re following a Paleo and/or low-carb lifestyle and are not currently following the work of Jimmy Moore, then you are missing out on one of the best resources for quality information online today. His passion for educating, encouraging and inspiring others in their own journey to better health is an example for all of us.

In January 2004, Jimmy Moore made a decision to get rid of the weight that was literally killing him.  At 32 years of age and 410 pounds, the time had come for a radical change of lifestyle. One year later, he had shed 180 pounds, shrunk his waist by 20 inches, and dropped his shirt size from 5XL to XL. Because of this tremendous life change, Jimmy has dedicated his life to helping as many people as possible find the information they need to make the kind of changes they need to make in their health. Although he’s had his struggles with some weight gain in recent years, he is currently in the midst of a very successful n=1 experiment of nutritional ketosis that has helped him shed well in excess of 60 pounds in 2012.
